Takka Sushi is a Japanese joint that offers sushi, sashimi, rolls, noodles, sake, beer, and more. A health inspection was conducted at the outlet on March 24. Multiple violations of food safety regulations were observed at the outlet, which led to its closure.
A major violation of vermin was found as rodents and insects were found in the food facility. Health guidelines require the prevention of live animals and insect harborage. Officials have recommended keeping the premises clean and free of vermin.
The rest of the violations were out of compliance with the expected standards. Nonfood contact surfaces, such as dishware shelves, were not clean. Nonfood contact surfaces shall be clean of dust, dirt, and grease.
Usage and storage of equipment, linens and utensils, floor, walls, and ceilings were out of compliance. Plastic shopping bags were used to store raw chicken, cardboard was used to line shelves, and food cans were repurposed to store food and equipment.
The restaurant has been instructed to use only approved and properly installed utensils and equipment. Cleaned and sanitized equipment should be stored in an employee locker room or pressurized cylinders that are not securely fastened to a rigid structure.
Broken tiles and walls were found, which have to be made smooth, durable, and non-absorbent before the next inspection. Base coving shall be provided in all areas except customer service areas, where food is stored in original unopened containers.
The Department of Environmental Health and Quality of the County of San Diego stringently follows the inspection checklist to ensure fair operation of all food outlets. The department allows restaurants to address violations by temporarily suspending operations. In case of repeated violations, strict actions like license suspension or permanent closure are ordered.
That place is so low quality!!
I’m usually pretty open minded about these Health Inspections , but Taka Sushi the violations were very serious, plastic shopping bags used to store raw chicken, cardboard was used to line shelves, and food cans were repurposed to store food and equipment.
Nonfood contact surfaces, such as dishware shelves, were not clean. Nonfood contact surfaces need to be clean of dust, dirt, and grease.
Very Disappointed & Surprised that no one became ill with Food Poising. To be honest these are serious health violations & should be Closed Permanently
