Plate Tapas Grill & Lounge, a new concept from Chef Sean Thongsiri of restaurants like Mangosteen and The Glass Noodle, will open this spring in Carrollwood, says coverage by St. Pete Rising.
The new restaurant will serve menu featuring small plates, yakitori, and warm bowls. That menu has actually been posted on the Plate Instagram page, showing small plates ranging from Veggie Spring Rolls to Grilled Octopus, to Pork Satay, to Cheesy Tater Tots. There are warm bowls based around proteins like Tofu (tofu, brown sushi rice, roasted vegetables, mushrooms, peppers, onions, chickpeas) and Pork Belly (pork belly, brown sushi rice, caramelized onion, broccoli, sweet potatoes, carrots, avocado), plus tacos and Laab tacos with proteins like salmon, tuna, chicken, and beef.
“Executive Chef Sean has created a well rounded small plates menu with traditional tapas items that have an Asian flare,” says the Instagram post. “Plate will also offer a variety of vegan and gluten free options. We are excited to open our space in the next coming weeks. Stay tuned for more updates.”
“Right now we’re trying to get our permits and everything set, sort of scrambling to get ready,” Matt Pengtakoon, a partner in the restaurant, told What Now on Friday.
Pengtakoon said the restaurant is also preparing to reveal its cocktail list.
Meanwhile, the St. Pete Rising coverage says, a second location is in the works for St. Petersburg’s Grand Central District.
