A new burrito concept is coming to Columbus, according to recent reporting. Blackbird Burrito Co. will operate out of Woodland’s Backyard, located at 668 Grandview Ave, and the new eatery will take the place of the recently closed Mikey’s Late Night Slice. The burrito concept is being brought to life by Jack Kendall, who also owns sister concept Blackbird Kitchen.

Kendall tells What Now Columbus that the new burrito concept will be a fun take on burritos, crunchwraps and SoCal fries, a dish that’s similar to nachos made with fries instead of chips.

Blackbird Kitchen serves smashburgers, birria tacos, nachos and taquitos, and the new sister concept will build on some of those customer favorites.

And Kendall said guests can expect to find “a collection of recipes we have developed at Blackbird Kitchen with a quick service, customizable menu.” Although the eatery will operate from Woodland’s Backyard, the Blackbird Burrito Co. menu will also be available on most third party delivery services, Kendall said.

The current expected timeline for opening the eatery is next month.
