A development in the works in Downtown Atlanta is switching gears, with a hotel taking the place of a planned residential tower.

A 127-room hotel with street-level retail space is proposed for 88 Elliott Street, Atlanta Business Chronicle reports. Original plans for the site in Castleberry Hill called for a 60-unit residential tower.

The hotel will be part of Centennial Yards, a $5 billion mixed-use project transforming 50 acres in Downtown Atlanta. Centennial Yards Company, the owner and master developer of the project, was created by CIM Group.

A 304-unit residential tower called The Mitchell recently topped out at the development. It is slated for 2025 completion. A 292-unit hotel, also expected to top out this year, is under construction across the street from The Mitchell.

Cosm, a leading immerse technology, media, and entertainment company, signed a long-term lease at the development over the summer. The venue will be part of an 8-acre entertainment district at Centennial Yards.
