‘Southeast’s Largest’ writing school, headed by author and Atlanta Magazine columnist Hollis Gillespie, moving to 201 Building.

Atlanta-based Shocking Real Life Writing Academy (SRL) is relocating its Virginia-Highland offices in the Good Works Lofts Complex to Midtown’s 201 Building in Atlantic Station.

The center, founded in 2007 by Hollis Gillespie,  offers courses in book-writing, blogging, social media, film writing, acting, cartoon illustration and more.

“We’re moving to Atlantic Station to accommodate increased classes, increased enrollments and a new online roster,” Gillespie told What Now Atlanta (WNA) in an email Thursday.

“We’re now the largest writing school in the Southeast with more classes, more published manuscripts and more success stories.”

Author Gillespie, arguably Atlanta’s most popular humorist, has appeared on The Tonight Show, The Today Show, does regular commentary for NPR’s All Things Considered, and writes for Atlanta Magazine.

“We are proud of the approach we take with our students. Even the most challenging ones. We would never say, as Truman Capote once said to Jack Kerouac, ‘That’s not writing, that’s typing!'”
