Nick Melvin is moving forward with plans to open his first restaurant Venkman’s in Old Fourth Ward.

A building permit application was submitted to City of Atlanta Monday to “whitebox” space, at 740 Ralph McGill Boulevard, for the new restaurant near Bantam Pub and Two Urban Licks.

An estimated $443,179 will be spent readying the space to buildout Venkman’s, according to the application. The 5,090-square-foot restaurant was originally named Garden District.

While details around the forthcoming concept are scarce, Melvin took to his Instagram page @PigAndTheCarrot last week and posted several dishes using the hashtag #Venkmans.

Melvin owns and operates pickled vegetable company Doux South. He’s also worked at the Farmhouse at Serenbe, Parish, Empire State South and Rosebud.
