The Edge is downtown’s latest planned apartment community.

Place Properties, a development, acquisition, and third-party management services real estate firm, is moving forward with plans to construct a 144-unit student housing complex downtown near Georgia State University.

A building permit application this week was filed with City of Atlanta to develop land, at 200 Edgewood Avenue NE, to build The Edge.

An estimated $750,800 will be spent readying the land for the residential mid-rise.

The Edge will boast 144 residential units, 2,602-square-feet of retail, 2,350-square-feet of restaurant space, and a parking deck for 115 vehicles.

What Now Atlanta (WNA) insiders suggest Waffle House will open in the designated restaurant space. However, earlier this year, the breakfast-all-day eatery made plans to open down the street in the One 12 Courtland building.

While Place does not offer any information about its latest project online, the domain TheEdgeATL.com has been registered through Blue Host.

[Editor’s note: An earlier version of this article indicated “Paces” Properties, the developer behind Krog Street Market and Vinings Jubilee, would open The Edge. This information has since been updated to reflect the correct developer, “Place” Properties.]
