The Ritz-Carlton at 181 Peachtree Street has filed a building permit with the City of Atlanta to make renovations to its main lobby and bar, as confirmed by Matthew Nelson, a director of engineering for the five-star hotel company.

George Sarfatty, president of Sarfatty Associates, LTD, will undertake the architectural design for the $350,000 refurbishment. Kenneth Kraus is signed on as the luxury hotel’s engineer.

The 1,180 square-foot area to be renovated includes the Lumen Lounge, a sleek cocktail bar located in the hotel’s main lobby. On weekends, the lounge features a variety of live evening entertainment for hotel guests and walk-in clientele.

These won’t be the only changes at the Ritz-Carlton in downtown. Just last week, Jittery Joe’s, a coffee franchise located inside the hotel, also filed for a $25,000 renovation plan, per a separate building permit.

The changes are expected to begin later this year.
