The British Asian-inspired restaurant chain Wagamama is pushing forth on developing its first Georgia location. On Wednesday, they filed a building plan with the City of Atlanta. The week prior, Atlanta Police Department’s License Review Board listed Wagamama’s liquor license application on its agenda for the West Midtown outpost.
Wagamama will open in West Midtown’s upscale Star Metals District, as previously reported by What Now Atlanta. The cost of construction is estimated at $60,000, according to a building permit application, and will include building an exterior terrace and installing new ground pavers, lighting, tables, and power.
Wagamama first opened in London in 1992, and has since expanded to over 200 locations in 27 countries, including in the U.S. with restaurants in Boston and New York. Last fall, the chain announced that it would enter the Atlanta market at 1050 Howell Mill Road.
The chain is known for its Japanese, Chinese, and Korean tradition-inspired cuisine, serving ramen and noodle dishes, curries, teppanyaki, and donburi rice bowls.
