A new Popeyes is planned for southwest Atlanta.

A building permit application was filed for interior and exterior changes to the existing structure at 2845 Greenbriar Parkway SW. Seafood restaurant Captain D’s was previously at the location.

The franchisee for the new location is 755 Restaurant Corporation, which was founded by the late legendary baseball player Hank Aaron.

Changes to the building include repainting the exterior elements in the proper color scheme, replacing the existing canopy and signs, and adding new windows and doors. The existing wooden vestibule is also set to be demolished.

Updates to the interior include new finishes, new furniture in the dining area, and new kitchen equipment. The rear of the restaurant will include a new walk-in cooler and walk-in freezer.

According to the documents, the estimated cost of construction is $500,000. The total area is more than 2,800 square feet. Architecture firm AKA Studio, PC is working on the new location. 755 Restaurant Corporation President Victor Haydel is listed as the owner. Haydel would not give comment on the new location when asked by What Now Atlanta.
