More details are coming into focus about a long-awaited grocery store coming to West Midtown.

SJC Ventures, has named Lidl as the grocer set to anchor Interlock Tower, phase two of the expansive mixed-use district.

Lidl offers produce, meats and seafood, imported cheeses, European pastries, household products and more at low prices. The grocery store began in Germany in 1973 and didn’t expand to the U.S. until 2017, with the first U.S. stores opening in Virginia. There are now more than 150 Lidl stores across the East Coast.

There are 17 existing locations in Georgia, and a new location is in the early stages in Norcross.

The Interlock is a multiphase mixed-use destination in West Midtown that features a mix of restaurants, bars, entertainment concepts, residential space and the Bellyard Hotel.

Publix was originally the grocery tenant set to join the development, announced back in 2021, but now the development is going in a different direction.

“We are committed to create an amenity-driven, energetic and connected community and an investment to bring grocery is essential to all of West Midtown,” Jeff Garrison, principal of SJC Ventures, said in a news release. “We’re thrilled to meet the community’s needs and to deliver not only the best place for food and entertainment but also the best place to live and work.”

Jeremiah’s Italian Ice is also set to open at Interlock Tower, as What Now Atlanta reported in January. Pinky Promise Champagne Bar opened there last month.
