A 70,000-square-foot immersive entertainment venue is headed to Centennial Yards.

The development has signed a long-term lease with Cosm, a leading immerse technology, media, and entertainment company. The venue will include an 87-foot LED dome and three stories of immersive technology-based entertainment.

This will be COSM’s third location, after Los Angeles and Dallas.

“Atlanta is a passionate sports town with a proud history of hosting the world’s biggest events,” Cosm President and CEO Jeb Terry said in a news release. “In fact, one of my favorite memories is winning the 2001 Peach Bowl in the Georgia Dome. Now, over 20 years later, the Cosm at Centennial Yards is the perfect complement to the State Farm Arena, Mercedes-Benz Stadium, and Georgia World Congress Center.”

The Cosm venue is the first addition to Centennial Yards’ next phase, which will result in about 500,000 square feet of entertainment, retail and restaurant space to an 8-acre site next to State Farm Arena and Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

Construction is now underway on this next phase, joining the 304-unit apartment building and 292-key hotel already underway.

The site will create hundreds of construction jobs, and possibly thousands of jobs through completion and operation. Twenty-five percent of entry-level construction jobs and 10 percent of all construction jobs will be for workers from around the downtown area, according to the news release.

Centennial Yards is a $5 billion mixed-use revitalization project that aims to transform an area of Downtown Atlanta referred to as “the gulch.”

“It really is a historic, even emotional sight for many to see something they thought they would never see – construction in the gulch, and with existing, world-class sports venues and the addition of Cosm, Centennial Yards will become the center of gravity for entertainment in Atlanta, connecting people of all ages with an incredible combination of sporting events, music, bars, restaurants and retail,” said Brian McGowan, president of Centennial Yards Company. “This is a big step forward for downtown Atlanta and the surrounding areas are feeling the positive impact.”
