The Chinese restaurant has tried to move down the street for seven years.

Buckhead mainstay Grand China Restaurant is about to uproot its home of 37 years.

Husband and wife team K. C. and Tse-Chih Chang filed plans with City of Atlanta this week to buildout the Asian bistro in space down the street, at 2905 Peachtree Road, where Peachtree Bikes is situated (it’s unclear if the bike shop will share the space or relocate.)

The Changs own the old brick, mansion-style house where Grand China will relocate, and have reportedly tried to move the restaurant there for seven years but were unsuccessful because of zoning issues related to parking, according to Reporter Newspapers circa 2008.

An estimated $140,000 will be spent readying the 4,315-square-foot space for the restaurant.

In 1977, The Chnags opened Panda Inn and a year later sold the Chinese restaurant and launched Grand China.

No word on what will replace Grand China in its current spot, at 2975 Peachtree Road NW.
