Following a successful grand opening last November for its second location in Plaza Midwood, local ice cream brand Seemingly Overzealous is bringing its dairy-free, egg-free and gluten-free offerings to Dilworth, according to a release.
The new scoop shop will open in late May at 224 East Blvd, Suite B, neighboring Sunflour Bakery and soon-to-open restaurant Lelulia Hall.
In addition to offering ice cream flavors such as I Needed Someone To Feed (brown sugar cinnamon), Big Mint City Fan (mint chocolate chip) and Queen Bee (lavender with honeycomb), this location will feature a game room with classic arcade machines and retro games that will serve as a family-friendly hang-out spot.
Customers can expect an immersive, welcoming environment that places emphasis on the experience as well as the ice cream. Seemingly Overzealous partnered with Mad Goat Studio to bring the design of the space to life.
“We’re always thinking about how to make each shop an experience,” co-founders Garrett Tichy and Jessica Berresse said in the release. “We want people to walk in and feel something. Hopefully that feeling is joy and that’s before we put the cherry on top with ice cream.”
As with the other two scoop shops, including the original in Camp North End and the spot at Plaza Midwood, this location will feature a custom mural by a local artist. Brett Twokat will be the Charlotte-based artist behind the Dilworth mural.
For Tichy and Berresse, Seemingly Overzealous started as a passion project in 2022 that grew into a brick-and-mortar business in 2023. They aim to bring inclusive dessert options to their customers without sacrificing on taste and quality.
“We’re allergy-sensitive, and we’re realizing that market is wildly underserved,” Tichy said in a previous interview with What Now Charlotte.
The menu features year-round flavors as well as rotating seasonal options.
