Inspection Findings at Tempest Bar & Restaurant
Food inspectors observed a variety of health violations at the San Francisco-based food facility. In the inspection report, they noted ‘rodent activity’ to be the prime reason for the shutdown of Tempest Bar & Restaurant. Dead rodents were found behind the cooler and shelf near the back exit door.
Additionally, the inspectors observed rodent droppings on chemical containers for cleaning, shelves with pans and pots, and the floor between the kitchen equipment, behind the grease trap, and between the counter and cooler at the bar.
The inspection report then shed light on the issue of improper cooking temperatures at Tempest Bar & Restaurant. Food officials found that the San Francisco-based establishment was measuring tomato bisque soup at 46°F in a plastic container. Additionally, the food item was cooled the day before.
As per the San Francisco Department of Public Health, the ideal limit should be from 70°F to 41°F (within 4 hours) and 135°F to 70°F (within 2 hours).
After this, inspectors reported several cleanliness-related issues at the bar & grill place. Debris and grease were found in the walls, ceiling, and floors of the kitchen at the San Francisco food establishment. Kitchen equipment was also dirty at Tempest Bar & Restaurant.
The inspection report showed that there was leakage in the dishwasher of the bar & restaurant. Further, the floors were uneven due to cracks.
Inspectors found that the staff at Tempest Bar & Restaurant kept non-food items on food-contact surfaces. The inspection report also highlighted that the kitchen’s back door was left open, which allowed the entry of vermin.
The San Francisco Department of Public Health offered the ‘closure’ status to Tempest Bar & Restaurant based on the serious rodent activity in its food prep area. However, being a temporary suspension, the San Francisco establishment must take corrective actions, pass the reinspection, and get back into business.
