Bojangles, a regional fast-food chain especially popular in the Southeastern United States, is preparing to open its first location in the Valley, with a new site set to arrive in Gilbert.
Previously, What Now Phoenix reported on the signing of a multi-unit development agreement that will bring 20 new restaurants to the Phoenix area. The growth will be led by operators LVP Restaurant Group, LLC, an entity of LV Petroleum, in partnership with Kingsbarn Realty Capital, which will serve as the real estate developer. Despite reporting on the news a year ago, no actual locations have been determined until now.
Bojangles recently purchased land south of Gilbert Mercy Medical Center. The property is north of Chipotle near the southeast corner of Val Vista and Mercy. A representative from LVP Restaurant Group, LLC, tells What Now Phoenix that they cannot confirm the location is one of theirs at this time, but the franchise group has several properties it is working to acquire in Phoenix.
Bojangles, founded in 1977 in Charlotte, North Carolina, is a fast food chain known for its Cajun-seasoned fried chicken and made-from-scratch buttermilk biscuits. The menu features all-day breakfast, chicken combos, sandwiches, and Southern-style sides, such as dirty rice, macaroni and cheese, and Bo-Tato Rounds.
Its signature sweet tea and seasonal items, such as Bo-Berry Biscuits, have contributed to a strong brand following in the Southeastern United States. The company has built a reputation on consistent flavor, quick service, and a focus on Southern-inspired comfort food. As of 2024, Bojangles operates more than 800 locations across the United States.
Bojangles has announced plans for accelerated expansion beyond its core Southeastern market. In 2023, the company entered into multiple franchise agreements to expand its footprint in the Midwest and along the East Coast. New locations have been announced in Ohio, Texas, and Las Vegas, signaling a broader national strategy. The chain has also begun testing new store formats, including drive-thru-only models and those with a smaller footprint, to adapt to changing customer preferences. As part of its growth initiative, Bojangles aims to open 100 new stores by the end of 2025.
