Violations Noted During the Health Inspection
A routine health inspection was conducted at the outlet in San Diego on April 24. The inspection revealed serious violations at the pizzeria. It must stop operations until fixes are made.
Vermin infestation, including the presence of insects and rodents, was one of the major violations observed. They pose a risk of disease transmission and must not be present on the premises. The inspecting officer educated the staff at the pizzeria to keep the facility completely vermin-free. Entry of live animals and taking care of pets during working hours is also prohibited.
The inspecting officer found a major issue: the facility didn’t maintain the proper hot and cold holding temperatures. Food items were not stored at the right temperatures. They should be at or above 135°F or at or below 41°F. Any items that stayed outside these ranges for too long had to be thrown away.
A re-inspection date has not been announced for the pizzeria. Before the reinspection is conducted, it is expected to eliminate the violations. Reopening will be allowed only if the food facility is found to comply with the food safety code.
