The company, owned and operated by Michael Azakie and Ivy Cormier, recently submitted documents to the San Diego Department of Environmental Health and Quality to open a new location in the former home of The Shop: Pizza + Wine. It’s unclear when the new Mary’s Gourmet Salads will open, but the site is pending an inspection, so it’s likely to open sooner rather than later. The restaurant is named after Michael’s mother and reflects their commitment to quality and community. They prioritize using fresh, local ingredients and have plans to partner with small farms to support sustainable sourcing. ​

Mary’s Gourmet Salads in La Jolla, located at 723 Pearl Street, offers a variety of fresh, made-to-order salads with house-made dressings. Popular options include the Kale Caesar, Thai Crunch, and Chinese Chop, each featuring a mix of vegetables, proteins, and unique toppings. Customers can also create their own salads by selecting greens, vegetables, and dressings. In addition to salads, the menu includes soups, cookies, and drinks like lemonade and coconut water.

Ocean Beach will be an excellent spot for a new Mary’s Gourmet Salads location, balancing out its next-door neighbors, Dirty Birds. The area is busy, walkable, and bike-friendly, making it easy for locals and visitors to stop by. Public transportation also runs nearby, adding to the convenience.
