The city may get a new spot for food and drinks in the center of Woodlawn.
The listed owner, Aaron Hall, is looking to open a new restaurant called LaVerne’s at 700 NE Dekum Street. When speaking to Hall, he said he is aiming to open the business around September. Hall is also an owner of Hey Love at 920 E Burnside Street.
This is the same space as The Village Ballroom event venue. The Oregon Public House bar was also in this space, but they closed officially in December 2023.
Hey Love has become a popular spot for a cocktail in recent years. In 2023, it was named the “best hotel bar in America” in the Tales of the Cocktail Spirit Awards. The bar has also held events in the past for the community.
The listed hours for the business are 3 p.m. to 12 a.m. Monday through Thursday, 3 p.m. Friday, 12 p.m. to 1 a.m. Saturday and 12 p.m. to 12 a.m. Sunday. There are also outdoor operating hours, which are weekdays 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. and weekends 12 p.m. to 10 a.m.
