A new pizza eatery is on its way to Columbus, according to a permit filing with the city. Pizzawala’s, a Michigan based chain, will arrive in Columbus when the eatery opens at 1922 Polaris Pkwy. According to information found in the permit, the buildout will include remodeling a space that was previously a phone store and turning it into a restaurant with the total projected cost for the work to be performed set at $300,000.

What Now Columbus spoke with the Pizzawala franchisee, who shared that the restaurant will function as a carryout facility, but there will be a small seating area in the lobby for guests to sit while they wait for their food. The buildout for the space is scheduled to begin next week, with the anticipated timeline for opening some time in May, the franchisee said.

Started in Michigan, Pizzawala’s isn’t your typical pizza joint. The restaurant focuses on marrying flavors found in traditional Indian cuisine with pizzas. Menu choices include pies like vegan and vegetarian options such as spicy vegetable and margherita and meat options including chicken tikka and butter chicken. Guests can also find boneless and bone-in wings in flavors like tandoori.
