Whit’s Frozen Custard has come far since its founding in 2003, in Ohio.

“Between the snowy weather and the locals questioning what frozen custard was, many felt it would not survive,” says the frozen custard brand’s website. “Despite the odds, nothing could delay Whit’s inevitable success.”

And successful Whit’s has been. It has expanded to dozens of locations in nine different states, and now it’s preparing to launch another new frozen custard shop in Boca Raton, at 19635 S State Road 7.

Whit’s frozen custard offerings vary by day and by location, but you can expect to find indulgent combinations—mixed as “Whitsers” or topped as Sundaes—like Buckeye Madness (Reese’s Cup, Chocolate Syrup, and Peanut Butter), O’Henry George (Hot Fudge, Hot Caramel, Spanish Peanuts), and Cool Coffee (Mocha and Irish Cream).

“Frozen custard is still created with the same pure ingredients as a century ago; cream, eggs, and sugar,” the website says. “But there are three reasons why frozen custard is thicker, smoother, and creamier than ice cream: 1) Frozen custard uses a higher butterfat content, 2) Making frozen custard is a slower labor-intensive process that is careful to minimize the amount of air blended into the mix, referred to as “overrun,” and finally, 3) The typical serving temperature of frozen custard is 26 degrees, that’s 10 degrees warmer than ice cream.”

What Now reached out to franchise Sara Weber on Friday to inquire about plans for the opening. Weber was not immediately available to discuss plans for Whit’s Boca.
