Known for its service and hotpot, XI Hotpot was cited for several violations in a recent health inspection. Some of the noted violations have been listed below.

  • The PIC lacked knowledge about foodborne illnesses and the symptoms that must be reported. This was the second consecutive violation, and the PIC was handed an information sheet regarding employee health reporting requirements.
  • Sanitary violations include equipment and trash cans found near the vegetable sink. Moreover, a wiping cloth was being used to clean the prep table.
  • TCS foods were not stored according to the outlined standards. Soup bases, cooked pepper, and cabbage kimchi were stored at the wrong temperatures.
  • Certain food items did not have expiration labels on them, and some were stored directly on the floor of the walk-in freezers.
  • The inspection report, permit, and choking posters were not put on display within public view.
  • Tablets were used to take orders without a customer advisory statement on them.

  • The PIC did not have procedures outlined for incidents of sickness. The inspectors then gave the PIC procedures for sick incidents, such as when an employee shows signs of vomiting or diarrheal events.
  • Two employees were seen putting on gloves without washing their hands, which goes against the sanitation regulations.
  • Several open and packaged foods were stored under icicles that would extend into the packages.
  • TCS foods were kept above 41°F, which goes against food safety standards.
  • The establishment did not have a temperature measuring system for thin massed foods.
