Raglan Public House has been a part of San Diego’s restaurant industry since 2012. 100% organic ingredients, craft beer, and New Zealand-inspired burgers have kept the restaurant connected to its roots.

San Diego County health inspectors conducted a routine health inspection at the restaurant on Wednesday. The restaurant was found in violation of several food safety standards.

Observed Risk Factors That Led to Closure

The health inspection report of Raglan Public House highlighted that the facility had a vermin infestation. Live insects and rodents were observed at the facility. Moreover, hot and cold foods were not maintained at safe temperatures (e.g., above 135°F or below 41°F).

Equipment and utensils were visibly unclean, as observed during the inspection. Fruits and vegetables used at the outlet were not washed with potable water before use. Food items were not properly stored at least 6 inches off the floor. The inspector instructed staff that food shall be stored in approved containers and labeled appropriately.

It was observed that there was a lack of plugs/stoppers to fill up the warewashing sink. An open window that was not covered by a screen was the reason for insect entry. The facility was advised to implement vermin-proofing measures.

As the violations observed at Raglan Public House are capable of causing health hazards, the restaurant had to cease operations temporarily. The restaurant may reopen once compliance is verified.
