Sprinkles Ice Cream Bids Farewell to Palm Beach
Sprinkles was established in 1985 at 279 Royal Poinciana Way, Palm Beach, FL 33480. Since then, it has become an iconic spot for those with a sweet tooth. Different flavors of cone ice cream, sorbets, sundaes, and smoothies have attracted people to have a cool break on hot summer days.
Today, on Memorial Day, May 26, 2025, Sprinkles will close its doors at this location. The building where Sprinkles operates is scheduled for renovation over the next six months. Therefore, it has to be vacated. This compelled Sprinkles to bid farewell to its beloved community.
Navigating Challenges to a Sweet New Location
In recent years, especially in the first quarter of 2025, the country experienced a lot of business closures and bankruptcy filings. Heavy debt burdens, rising labor costs, new tariff laws, and shifting consumer behaviors have been common reasons. Even the termination of franchise agreements has led to closures, as seen in the case of Dairy Queen in Texas.
Another less expected reason for closure occurs when businesses must halt operations due to decisions made by building owners. As this is the case with Sprinkles, its owners, Anson Ainsworth and Cortney Berry, are planning to open a new outlet in Palm Beach. The current building will be closed for at least six months, and the owners are unsure if they will return.
Sprinkles had a memorable journey of almost 40 years, with stars like Michael Jackson stopping by at the parlor. During this journey, the ownership, customers, and staff changed, but what remained constant was their quality of ingredients and refreshing taste!
Every industry faces challenges in business and managing finances, and so does the ice cream industry. But, it bounces back every time with its strong resilience as the community showers their love and support for these cold, sweet desserts.
