Iconic organization Goodwill Houston recently announced plans to introduce some exciting changes to its store lineup. The firm’s brand new outlet at 9320 Highway 6 N celebrated its grand opening on June 26. Goodwill Houston’s Cypress outlet will reopen after undergoing renovations, and the Gessner outlet will be repurposed as a clearance store, co‑located with the company’s new Training Academy.

New Goodwill Houston Store Launch

Goodwill Houston’s new store opened at 9320 Highway 6 N. The company announced store updates on its official social media pages on June 26, 2025. On LinkedIn, Goodwill Houston posted a video and shared, “Thank you for supporting Goodwill Houston and helping us continue Changing Lives Through the Power of Work.”

The organization also revealed plans to convert its two other outlet stores for other retail and training purposes.

The non-profit organization provides job assistance to individuals with special needs. Since 1945, it has operated retail stores in Greater Houston, the revenue from which in turn assists in its workforce development efforts.

The new store near U.S. 290 will accompany the other three outlet stores, Long Point and Sabo, that keep products in bins, selling them by the pound.

Conversion of Cypress Outlet

Goodwill Houston’s Cypress 529 Outlet remains closed presently. The store was shut down to execute renovations smoothly. It will open after completion as a retail store. The firm did not disclose the opening date.

Gessner Closure and Its New Clearance Store Format

The Gessner Outlet will continue providing services to customers until June 30. It will be converted into a clearance store after that. The newly renovated space will be shared with the training academy established by Goodwill. The organization strives to offer a diverse array of training programs that empower individuals with the necessary knowledge and skills to attain fulfilling careers.

  • “The moment you walk in this new Goodwill Outlet Store, you’re hit with the stench of sweaty butt and body odor. And it’s not hard to figure out why: there is no air conditioning. Not broken. Not “waiting to install.” They really opened a massive warehouse in Houston — of all places — with no AC. Employees are literally dripping with sweat. The few fans they have going make little to no difference.” Repulsive and a health hazard.
