Creature Comforts describes Cura as a word derived from Latin, meaning “to care” and “to be curious”—both central to the brand’s identity and ethos.

Creature Comforts co-founder and CEO Adam Beauchamp said the brand’s curiosity and desire for human connection inspired its decision to engage new audiences.

“Our founding in downtown Athens seemed an appropriate location to open our first cocktail bar and distillery. Cura is the showroom for our distilled spirits program and all the curiosity that comes with it. Beyond base spirits, we are driven to learn and create all of the attributes of a cocktail, and as such, drinks that are uniquely Athenian,” added Beauchamp.

Creature Comforts Grows Beyond Beers

Creature Comforts recently ventured into spirits as part of a broader plan to grow its beverage offerings. The move reflects the company’s commitment to expand its portfolio of beverage offerings to a bigger audience.

Since it started in 2014, Creature Comforts has experienced impressive growth, now ranking as America’s 31st largest brewery. Known for its highly rated and award-winning beers, the brand offers seasonal and year-round favorites.

Among some of its most popular items are Classic City Lager (Lager), Tropicália (American IPA), and Flash Cat (Hazy Imperial IPA). Classic City Lager won two gold medals at the Great American Beer Festival in 2022 and 2024.

Creature was named the Official Taproom and Craft Beer of UGA Athletics in 2023, cementing its local presence. This spring, the brand also launched Sun Glow, a ready-to-drink vodka seltzer made with 7x distilled American vodka, with real fruit juice, and no added sugar.

With the launch of Cura, the brand is charting into new territory while staying true to its quality. As Creature Comforts evolves, it remains focused on expanding to newer audiences.
