The team behind popular Lao restaurant Snackboxe Bistro is bringing a new restaurant to Metro Atlanta. Slated to open this fall, Naga Bistro will serve Thai, Lao and Khmer cuisine in Chamblee, according to a recent post on the Snackboxe Bistro Instagram page.
“We’ve always known in our hearts we would be back in Metro Atlanta,” the announcement stated. “Was just waiting for the perfect timing and all the stars to align. We hope y’all are ready…cause we are!”
The spot will be at 2201 Savoy Drive, occupying the space that formerly housed Wild Ginger Thai Cuisine, according to Rough Draft Atlanta. Wild Ginger Thai Cuisine just closed at the end of June.
Thip Athakhanh and Vanh Sengaphone are behind the forthcoming Naga Bistro. Their journey with Snackboxe Bistro began with a trip to Laos in 2016, which inspired them to connect with the culture and launch their own Lao restaurant. The menu at Snackboxe Bistro features dishes like laap, shrimp ceviche, fried calamari, BBQ pig feet, Lao chicken salad, lettuce wraps and noodle bowls.
While Snackboxe Bistro focuses on Lao cuisine, Naga Bistro will draw from a variety of Southeast Asian cuisines to build its menu. The team has been posting information about dishes on the Naga Bistro Instagram page since the announcement, showcasing dishes like Prahok Ktis, a Cambodian minced pork dish.
Athakhanh confirmed the forthcoming concept with What Now Atlanta but was unavailable to provide further details at this time. Stay tuned for updates on their Instagram page @nagabistroatl.
