Taste of Hunan opened in San Diego in 2018, serving Hunan-style Chinese cuisine. A health inspection was conducted at the restaurant on Monday. As per the inspection findings, the outlet was not following the health and food safety guidelines.

The inspector observed that food items were cooled improperly and were not cooled from 135°F to 41°F or below within six hours, as required. Staff were guided on how to cool food safely and within the required timeframes.

The report noted that unused equipment and utensils were visibly and physically unclean. Utensils used with non-potentially hazardous foods were not cleaned at a frequency necessary to preclude the accumulation of soil.

The primary violation was a vermin infestation, with evidence of live insects and rodents. The premises were not vermin-proof. Even the tiles at some places on the floor and walls were broken and were not in compliance with safety standards.
