The restaurant serves a range of Chinese dishes, including kung pao chicken and Mongolian beef. The inspection revealed multiple health code violations. Based on the nature of violations, they instructed the restaurant owners to stop food operations temporarily.
Inspection Findings
The on-site inspectors observed that eggs and tofu were kept at a temperature of 47°F, violating the required temperature of 41°F or lower. They further found that vegetables were drying on soiled pipes near the mop sink at Hunan House.
Health inspectors reported evidence of cockroach activity throughout the kitchen. Live cockroaches were observed in two prep cold holding units and a mechanical dish machine. Additionally, dead cockroaches were present under the microwaves at the Chinese restaurant.
Hunan House was found to have a heavy accumulation of grease on the filters of its ventilation hoods at the cook’s line. Wet wiping cloths were stored outside the sanitizer solution at the cook’s line as well.
The inspectors reported a broken light cover above the dish machine area. Hunan House’s basement had a damaged hand sink and multiple broken tiles under the cook’s line. A hole along the staircase showed signs of insect entry.
Hunan House must address the violations before a reinspection can take place.
