Anajak Thai Cuisine, the celebrated Thai restaurant located at 14704 Ventura Blvd in Sherman Oaks, has temporarily closed for renovations.
The nature of the renovations has not been disclosed, but the team recently submitted documentation to the Los Angeles City Planning Department. What Now Los Angeles reached out to owner Chavalit Pichetrungsi, but did not receive a response. The restaurant is expected to reopen on August 20, 2025.
Now in its fifth decade of service, Anajak Thai is a family-owned institution. It has seen a surge in popularity in recent years under second-generation Chef Justin Pichetrungsi, whose creative approach has drawn national attention.
The restaurant is best known for “Thai Taco Tuesdays,” a no-reservations weekly event that has become a local sensation. Taking over the alley behind the restaurant, the menu features tacos, tostadas, and collaborations with guest chefs. À la carte dining is offered Wednesday through Sunday from 4 to 9 p.m., by reservation only.
Anajak’s menu includes a mix of Thai staples and inventive seasonal dishes. Guests can expect wok-fired classics, curries, and grilled meats, along with standout offerings like Dungeness Crab Fried Rice, Southern-Thai Fried Chicken, and Pad Gaprao Beef with Fried Egg.
The wine list at Anajak has also received acclaim, featuring selections from the Mosel, Champagne, and both red and white Burgundy, with an emphasis on traditional and avant-garde producers.
On select weekends, Anajak hosts an omakase experience, which has become one of the city’s most sought-after reservations. These limited seatings showcase Chef Justin’s range and highlight fresh, high-end ingredients, including Santa Barbara uni, kampachi, and Astrea caviar.
