According to a recently submitted permit application, the international fast-casual chain Fatburger plans to debut a new sit-down hamburger joint in San Antonio’s Stone Oak neighborhood.
Coming to 23503 Hardy Oak Boulevard in San Antonio, the eatery will land near establishments such as Andy’s Frozen Custard, CVS Pharmacy, and Whataburger.
What Now San Antonio reached out to Bradley Peak, Vice President of Operations at Brame Brands, to inquire about the company’s expansion plans; however, he could not provide additional information before publication.
Nevertheless, the filing reveals that renovations to the existing 1,736-square-foot space are scheduled to begin on August 15, 2025, and are expected to be completed on November 15. The local firm Gason Inc. will manage the project, and it will cost an estimated $130,200 to complete.
For readers who are unfamiliar with the history of the franchise, Fatburger offers a brief overview on its website: “Back in 1947, the incomparable Lovie Yancey started the business with her husband: a three-stool hamburger stand called Mr. Fatburger. But in 1952, they split. Ever persistent, she dropped ‘Mr.’ from the namesake, and Fatburger became her own. She worked 18-hour days and made Fatburger into an icon; with celebrities frequenting The Last Great Hamburger Stand, we started our journey to becoming a household name.”
Quoting Yancey, the website shares, “The name of the store was my idea, I wanted to get across the idea of a big burger with everything on it… a meal in itself.”
Today, the company is headquartered in Beverly Hills and operates around 200 locations across the world.
