The Bay Area-born coffee company will reopen its beloved shop at a new Ferry Building location on Thursday, July 31. Guests can visit Suite 46, directly across from Boulettes Larder, to enjoy Red Bay Coffee’s signature blends and community-driven mission.
The Black-owned coffee brand will return after its closure in January 2025. Ready with an all-day cafe menu and an expansive outdoor patio, Red Bay Coffee will launch new coffee cocktails in early fall.
“Opening our doors, once again, at the Ferry Building marks a powerful new chapter for Red Bay Coffee. This café is more than just a location; it is a celebration of community, craft, and culture. We welcome everyone to join us on this next exciting journey,” said Keba Konte, owner and founder of Red Bay Coffee.
Opening Day Celebrations
The celebration will continue throughout the afternoon with music and giveaways. Vocalist and songwriter Ariel B and DJ Elijah “BlckSpkz” Collins will perform from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. during the celebrations.
During the festivities, the team will hand out free freshly brewed black coffee to guests.
A Thoughtfully Redesigned Building
Founded in 2014 by Keba and Rachel Konte, the specialty coffee brand is rooted in community and culture. Their Oakland-based company’s new Ferry Building shop draws inspiration from California to Copenhagen.
The shop’s design blends 1960s Haight Street vibes with the Danish concept of hygge, warmth and comfort. Rachel Konte curated furnishings and materials with an Afro-Scandinavian sensibility that brings the space to life.
Art by Keba and other local artists lines the main wall, adding a personal touch to the space. The other highlights include modern pendant-style lighting and a centerpiece from the Scandinavian SECTO Collection.
The Black-owned brand’s Ferry Building location features its signature oak wood mill at the front counter. Red Bay Coffee’s support for diversity and inclusion is further reflected in other elements at the shop.

The Ferry Building café will serve sandwiches, pastries, egg dishes, and other light bites. Red Bay Coffee will launch a Bay-inspired, coffee-forward cocktail menu in late summer.
Menu standouts will include the Bay Pandan Latte, Fillmore Fog, and Port of Espresso Martini. These items could be perfect picks for a mid-afternoon caffeine kick or an after-dinner cocktail by the water.
While Red Bay Coffee gears up for its new menu at the Ferry Building, its ‘Hero Collection’ is also a standout new offering. Launched on July 4, the Hero Collection features three coffees that pay tribute to themes of liberty, freedom, and justice.
‘Fight The Power’ is an espresso blend with notes of passionfruit, brown sugar, and toffee. The second coffee collection is ‘People Get Ready,’ a medium roast with tastes of red apple, hazelnut, and milk chocolate. The third one is ‘This is America,’ a dark roast with notes of plum, almond, and s’mores.
With its waterfront location, thoughtful design, and bold menu, Red Bay Coffee’s new Ferry Building café is poised to become a local favorite.
