A James Beard Award-winning chef is bringing his newest concept to Richmond later this year.
It was recently reported by The Oregonian that Akkapong “Earl” Ninsom is opening a new restaurant called OK Chicken & Khaosoi at 3226 SE Division Street. This will be a late-night restaurant with music and dancing. It is expected to open by the end of this year.
“Midnight chicken and late night karaoke,” says the description on their Instagram page.
Ninsom confirmed through text that he is still going through the lease review process, and the restaurant will be opening this winter if planning goes ahead. It will be joining the area of Richmond which has many different dining options along SE Division Street.
An award-winning chef, Ninsom has co-founded restaurants in the area including Paadee, Langbaan, HatYai, EEM, Phuket Cafe and Yaowarat. His restaurant Paadee is a Thai spot based in Kerns, and he is bringing some of this cuisine to the new space. Roasted chicken will be served, but this is not to be confused with the restaurant previously at the space which served Thai wings, Pok Pok.
Some of the advertised dishes include laab, which is spicy ground meat from Northeastern Thailand. In the name of the business, khaosoi refers to Northern Thai curry noodle soup. Fried chicken will also be on the menu, along with seafood dishes.
The menu and opening date will be released at a later time. For more information, visit their Instagram @okchickenandkhaosoi.
