The food cart pod trend is extending to Portland State University’s campus early next year.
It was posted online by the Extra Credit food cart pod Instagram account that Fracture Brewing will be managing the bar at 1900 SW 5th Avenue. This follows almost a year of planning for the space. According to Kurt Huffman, owner of ChefStable which manages Fracture Brewing, the pod space as a whole is expected to open in February 2026.
ChefStable is a restaurant group responsible for projects like Beer O-Clock, Bluto’s, Fracture Brewing and Grassa. It was previously reported by Portland Business Journal that the food cart pod would be going in at the shuttered Wells Fargo building. Now, there is at least one confirmed business coming to the space.
“Full bar by Fracture Brewing,” says the pamphlet from Extra Credit in a recent post. The space will have around 20 food carts and utilities for tenants at the space.
Fracture Brewing already has two locations in the city at 1015 SE Stark Street and in Midtown Beer Garden at 431 SW Harvey Milk Street. Their brews range from west coast pilsners, pale ales, hazys and blond ales.
As of May, Extra Credit was taking applications for new businesses to occupy the carts. It will have indoor seating for over 200 people, and the food carts will be inside as well. It is not confirmed if Fracture Brewing will also serve food.
