According to a recently shared press release, a new modern restaurant and sports bar concept, SoMa Social, is preparing to open at the SoMa House Hotel in San Francisco’s Mid-Market corridor.
Located at 121 7th Street, the Oxford Capital Group-backed eatery will land near establishments such as the sandwich shop Deli Board, Hotel Fiona, and Sightglass Coffee.
What Now San Francisco reached out to John Rutledge — Founder, Chairman, and CEO at Oxford Hotels and Resorts, LLC — as well as Oxford Capital Group, LLC’s chief operating officer, Sarang Peruri, to learn more about their plans for the upcoming spot; however, they could not provide additional information before publication.
Nevertheless, the release offers a brief introduction to the concept, sharing, “SoMa Social blends the spirited energy of a game-day bar with the elevated approach of a gastropub. A dynamic layout creates distinct yet cohesive zones, from a lively central bar to cozy lounge nooks and an inviting game room anchored by a restored fireplace.”
It continues, “Helmed by Chef Juan Mendoza, the menu will feature creative takes on classic bar fare — perfect for lunch breaks, game nights, or casual dinners. The design offers a rich, vintage-inspired setting that transitions effortlessly from day to night, making it an inviting space for both locals and visitors.”
For readers who are unfamiliar with the Oxford Capital Group, it is an international real estate investment, development, asset, and property management firm. “Oxford Hotels and Resorts, LLC is its wholly owned hotel operating affiliate, which specializes in operating, managing, and branding distinctive hotels, and food & beverage venues,” the company shares on its website.
“Oxford’s geographic focus includes the Top 30 US MSAs and select resort markets including: Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami, New York City, Portland, Minneapolis, Austin, Detroit, San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle, Tampa, Nashville, Washington D.C., Charleston, New Orleans, Florida and other international markets including Canada,” the introduction continues.
SoMa Social is slated to open in September 2025. Follow What Now San Francisco on Facebook for updates to this story.
