A new spot for noodles and stir fry is coming to the center of the neighborhood this year.
Owner Minshan Chen recently applied for space at 3500 SE Hawthorne Boulevard for her new restaurant Ding & Spice. Chen is also the listed owner of Rolls & Rice in Happy Valley. There is not yet an opening date as remodeling is being done inside.
The menu of the new restaurant is straightforward, serving Chinese dishes with a stir fry theme. According to Chen, this will be the first restaurant under this name and is not yet part of a chain.
The new spot is going in at the address of the former Hello India restaurant. The building is also attached to Mulligan’s Bar & Grill, as well as Golden Hour Coffee Co. Ding & Spice will be in an advantageous location as it is near the center of the neighborhood along SE Hawthorne Boulevard which has many bars and restaurants.
Inside, there will be seating with a capacity of 62. The hours of operation will be 11 a.m.-9 p.m. every day. For right now, there is no mention of outdoor seating in the license.
Chen has received praise in the past for Rolls & Rice. The new concept will be different as it will not focus on sushi rolls and rather stir fry and sauces. More information will be released at a later date.
