According to Mission Local, Berkeley’s gourmet cafe Grégoire plans to open a new location in San Francisco’s Inner Sunset neighborhood in November.
Coming to 1300 9th Avenue, taking over a space formerly home to Jamba Juice, the concept will land near establishments such as the breakfast spot Art’s Cafe, the pub Mucky Duck, and Super Duper Burgers.
For readers who are unfamiliar with the business, it offers a brief introduction on its website: “French-trained Chef Grégoire Jacquet was dissatisfied working at five-star, Michelin-rated restaurants around the world. Craving independence, he left fine dining to venture off on his own.”
“On June 26, 2002, Jacquet transformed the tradition of carry out food by opening the first high-end takeout restaurant– called Grégoire –just around the corner from the renowned Chez Panisse in the heart of Berkeley’s Gourmet Ghetto. Nearly twenty years later, Grégoire remains a neighborhood institution and the home of the renowned potato puff.”
“Having a location in San Francisco is dear to my heart,” Jacquet tells the Journal.
On the menu are items such as a breaded eggplant sandwich on focaccia, a salmon lavash wrap, and a pork tenderloin sandwich on ciabatta. A selection of salads, soups, and poutine is also offered. Additionally, the business caters.
What Now San Francisco reached out to Jacquet to learn more about the expansion; however, he could not provide additional information before publication.
An exact opening date for Grégoire on 9th Avenue has not been announced yet. Follow What Now San Francisco on Facebook for updates.
