Ballers, a new social sports and wellness concept from the founders of Fitler Club, is preparing to open a flagship Los Angeles location at 750 W. 7th Street in Downtown LA.
The new Ballers DTLA will take over more than 100,000 square feet inside the former Macy’s building at The Bloc, according to a press release. Set to open in the second quarter of 2026, the Downtown LA location will feature the first padel courts in the area, alongside 17 pickleball courts, five golf simulators, and two soccer fields. Additional amenities will include two full-service bars, a luxury recovery lounge, and a high-end retail space. Ballers aims to become a dynamic gathering place for residents and visitors alike.
Ballers was founded by Equinox veterans David Gutstadt and Amanda Potter, along with Daniel Bassichis of Vero Capital. The concept builds on the team’s background in wellness, design, and hospitality, blending athletics with community-driven experiences. Their flagship location is scheduled to open in Philadelphia in August 2025, with additional locations planned for Boston and Miami. The project is backed by a $20 million Series A funding round led by Sharp Alpha and RHC Group, and supported by a roster of notable investors, including celebrity investors and professional athletes.
The Ballers brand centers on creating social hubs that merge sport, wellness, and culture under one roof. Each location will offer membership tiers with access to premium amenities, including recovery lounges, sauna and cold plunge treatments, exclusive programming, and athlete events. Non-members will also be welcome to enjoy the courts and social spaces. The dining program, led by Chef Mitch Prensky, will serve elevated takes on classic sports bar fare and local favorites.
With plans to open over 50 locations in the next 7–10 years, Ballers is positioning itself at the forefront of the racquet sports boom. Downtown LA’s high foot traffic and evolving urban landscape make The Bloc a strategic choice for Ballers’ West Coast expansion. The concept is expected to attract both fitness enthusiasts and casual players, while contributing to the revitalization of social and recreational spaces in the city.
