QDC Burger, a local chain specializing in steakhouse burgers crafted with an aged beef recipe and gourmet elements, has closed its Mile End location at 210 Saint-Viateur St. West in Montreal.
The closure was quietly confirmed on the company’s website, which now lists the location as “closed – relocating.” No additional details have been provided regarding the location or reopening date of the restaurant. The Saint-Viateur storefront was QDC Burger’s original location, first opened in 2014 in the back alley of La Queue de Cheval steakhouse.
It didn’t take long for this location to quickly become a local favorite in Mile End, offering burgers made with a proprietary blend of USDA Prime and Canadian AAA steak cuts. The brand is renowned for its dry-aged beef recipe and signature brioche buns, complemented by an extensive menu of chef-created burgers and classic sides, including poutine and mac and cheese.
The closure leaves QDC Burger with one operating location, in Old Montreal at 109 Rue de la Commune West. That location remains open and fully operational, offering indoor seating and a licensed terrace. Menu options include build-your-own burgers as well as a rotating list of chef’s specials, such as the Surf & Turf Burger, Lamb Burger, and a recently added Wagyu Burger.
Several potential locations are in the pipeline across Montreal, according to the company’s website. Proposed franchise areas include Griffintown, Monkland Village, Ville St-Laurent, the West Island, Quartier des Spectacles, and the city’s financial district. No timelines have been provided for these openings.
QDC Burger was founded by Peter Morentzos, who also developed La Queue de Cheval. The burger concept emphasizes high-quality ingredients and unique flavor combinations in a casual dining format. Franchise inquiries are currently being accepted through the company’s website. The company has not commented publicly on the reasons behind the Saint-Viateur closure or its plans for a new location in Mile End.
