Narwhal Taproom and Bottleshop is getting ready to open a new brick-and-mortar at 4576 S Power Road in southeast Gilbert.
The new venue will feature 30 rotating craft beer taps, a curated selection of regional and international bottled and canned beers, a carefully chosen wine list, and a concise menu of farm-to-table tapas, according to a Kickster campaign. Narwhal Taproom and Bottleshop is set to open in Fall 2025 in the former Taproom 120 location. Owned by Tim and Billie McGovern, who bring decades of experience in the culinary and craft beer industries, Narwhal aims to create a family-friendly environment for both beer enthusiasts and casual visitors.
Tim McGovern has served as a chef and general manager at various East Valley restaurants and craft beer bars, while Billie has worked with breweries and distributors. The location is positioned to attract both locals and visitors due to its proximity to the Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport, the ASU Polytechnic campus, and several large-scale developments, including a 350-acre industrial and commercial project and over 2,000 apartment units currently under construction nearby. Additionally, the $1 billion “The Ranch” development is just half a mile north.
Narwhal has launched crowdfunding efforts on Kickstarter to help fund buildout costs, initial inventory, and marketing for the grand opening. Backers can receive exclusive perks, including early access to tastings, limited-edition merchandise, and membership in the taproom’s beer and wine clubs. The team, which also includes Allan and Kate Dyament, plans to personally operate the taproom during its initial months to ensure quality and guest experience. The project highlights the growing demand for craft beer and local experiences in the rapidly developing East Valley market.
