The County of Los Angeles Public Health conducted health inspections at a sushi restaurant. Located in Tarzana, So Sushi was cited for violating the California Health and Safety Code. Inspectors ordered the restaurant to temporarily close.

Inspection officers from the health department inspected So Sushi on Thursday. As per the inspection findings, the facility lacked food safety certification, and the person in charge failed to demonstrate food safety knowledge. The facility was not vermin-proof; evidence of rodents and insects were noted during the inspection.

The inspector instructed the staff to follow proper storage procedures for equipment and utensils. The handwashing facilities at the restaurant were not adequate. Food contact surfaces were found unclean during the inspection, and wiping cloths were lying in the prep area instead of a sanitizing solution.

As per the report, plumbing conditions at the restaurant were not in good repair. Employees were not following the handwashing procedures and did not use gloves. The restaurant was not in compliance with shelf stock tagging. Consumer advisory was not provided for raw or uncooked food.

Several critical violations and public health risks led inspectors to temporarily close the restaurant. The restaurant is expected to eliminate all the violations before a re-inspection is conducted.
