As per a National Housing Report by RE/MAX, U.S. home sales dipped in July compared to June but remain up slightly from last year. San Antonio buyers took longer to close deals than in other U.S. metros, despite the fact that home sales activity picked up in many parts of the country.

Highlights

  • Homes in San Antonio averaged 83 days on market in July 2025, the longest among 52 metro areas tracked by RE/MAX.
  • Rising inventory and affordability challenges are contributing factors to the extended selling time.
  • Meanwhile, the average sales price in San Antonio continued to climb, providing a welcome boost for sellers.

San Antonio Homes Stayed for the Highest Days on Market in July 2025

After five straight months of gains, U.S. home sales eased slightly in July, slipping 0.7% from June. However, sales were still up 0.6% when compared to July 2024. According to data from RE/MAX 52 metropolitan areas, homes took an average of 44 days to sell.

The median sales price nationwide was $450,000 in July, down 1.1% from June but up 2.3% year-over-year.

Although new listings were up 4.4% from the same time last year, they were down 2.5% from June. “July’s housing data reflects a market that’s adjusting seasonally,” said REMAX CEO Erik Carlson. Homes are taking a bit longer to sell, but inventory has remained consistent, and prices have held steady. That’s a sign of resilience—and continued opportunity for both buyers and sellers.”

Inventory stood at 5.6 months in San Antonio, one of the top five markets for available housing supply, indicating a more balanced environment. However, July was a slow month for sales. San Antonio led the list at an average of 83 days on market.

The San Antonio housing market is undergoing a transition toward equilibrium rather than a downturn because inventory remains high and closing times for homes are longer. Experts emphasize the significance of collaborating with knowledgeable local professionals in order to assist sellers in setting competitive prices and direct buyers in making strong offers in a market with slower movement.
