Aftermath Bar & Kitchen, a modern American concept from Arizona restaurateur Charles Barber Jr., is getting ready to open in Gilbert at 366 N. Gilbert Road.
The company’s newest location is set to move into the former home of The Bar, according to a press release. The company plans to open the restaurant in January 2026, marking the second location for Aftermath, following its existing site in Phoenix at 1534 E Bethany Home Road. When the new location opens, customers can expect Aftermath’s signature scratch-made dishes, craft cocktails, and a high-energy atmosphere, including a weekend brunch and late-night lounge vibe.
Founded in North Phoenix in 2021, Aftermath Bar & Kitchen quickly gained a following for its Aftermath Burger, creative drink offerings, and dedication to using locally sourced ingredients from partners such as Noble Bread and Frites Street Fries. The concept is part of Barber’s growing restaurant group, which also includes Born & Bred, with locations in Chandler and Scottsdale.
Downtown Gilbert has become a well-trafficked destination for dining and nightlife, making it a strategic choice for Aftermath’s expansion. The walkable neighborhood is home to a growing number of independent restaurants, bars, and entertainment venues. Barber noted that the Gilbert location has been a long-term goal, aligning with the brand’s plans to reach a wider Valley audience.
Aftermath’s menu features a variety of New American dishes, including chef-driven burgers, shared plates, seasonal specials, and house-made fries. The beverage program focuses on bold signature cocktails, craft beer, and curated wines, with brunch, happy hour, and dinner service available throughout the week.
“We’ve always wanted to be in Gilbert, and after 10 years, the timing is finally right,” Barber Jr. said in a press release. “This spot will bring the same heart and quality people know us for, but with a unique vibe that reflects Downtown Gilbert.”
