Andy’s Frozen Custard, “a chain of United States frozen custard stores with over 85 locations in 14 states,” plans to expand its presence in San Antonio, according to a recently submitted permit application.
Coming to 8338 Broadway, the shop will land near establishments such as 410 Diner, The Beignet Stand, and Wild Barley Kitchen & Brewery.
What Now San Antonio reached out to the concept’s franchisee, Joseph Shields, to inquire about his plans for the upcoming outpost; however, he could not provide additional information before publication.
Nevertheless, the filing reveals that construction of the 1,757-square-foot drive-thru restaurant is scheduled to begin on October 1 and to be completed on February 28, 2026. For $1,900,000, the Helotes-based firm KNRG Architects will oversee the project.
For readers who are unfamiliar with the franchise, Andy’s Frozen Custard was founded in 1986 in Osage Beach, Missouri. Today, the business is headquartered in Springfield and operates outposts throughout Missouri, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Texas.
Menu offerings include vanilla or chocolate frozen custard that can be topped with a variety of ingredients — think Oreo, cookie dough, strawberry, espresso, cherries, almonds, and others. Andy’s also serves sundaes, malts, floats, pies, brownies, and seasonal specialties.
