According to the San Francisco Chronicle, Temescal’s FOB Kitchen, known for Filipino fare and tropical cocktails, is debuting a new outpost. Coming to Prescott Market in West Oakland next year, FOB West will land alongside tenants such as Fast Times Burgers, Pizzeria Violetta, and Woo Can Cook.
“I’m keeping it as authentic to me and what I grew up eating,” the concept’s founder and owner, Chef Janice Dulce, tells the Journal. She adds, “It’s the kind of food my brothers and I make when we get together.”
Menu offerings at FOB West — influenced by Chef Dulce’s by Filipino heritage, time spent in Guam while growing up, and her exposure to Mexican food in the Bay Area —  will include tacos, Guamanian-style rice bowls, and plates that feature beef ribs, marinated chicken, and jackfruit, served with cucumber salad topped with a spicy Guamanian sauce (finadene) on the side.
“When I was a kid in Guam, when you went to a party, this is the kind of plate that you made,” she tells the Journal.
Additionally, she tells the Chronicle that she’s prioritizing affordability.
For readers who are just learning about FOB Kitchen, the concept began as a pop-up in 2015 in the Mission District. Three years later, after being well-received at farmers’ markets and events around the city, Chef Dulce opened a brick-and-mortar restaurant in Oakland’s Temescal neighborhood.
The concept is briefly introduced on its website: “Proud to represent and share a space dedicated to the celebration of Filipino food and culture, FOB Kitchen believes in the strength of pamilya: the family that extends beyond.”
“Our story is woven with traditions passed down through generations, carrying the memories of family, laughter, and gatherings around the dinner table. We believe in the richness that comes from building lasting relationships through authentic food, upbeat music, and intimate moments — embracing the joy and vibrancy that comes from honoring our individuality,” the statement continues.
What Now San Francisco reached out to Chef Dulce to learn more about what she has planned for the eatery; however, additional information could not be gathered before publication.
Nevertheless, the Journal reports that FOB West is slated to open in early 2026. Follow What Now San Francisco on Facebook to stay up to date on upcoming restaurant openings in the Bay Area.
