According to a recently submitted alcohol license application, a new restaurant concept listed as Hokkaido Omakase is preparing to open in Sausalito.
Coming to 400 Caledonia Street, taking over a space that’s presently home to the Japanese restaurant Sweet Ginger — a concept known for offering a variety of specialty rolls and sashimi, grilled fare, and bento — Hokkaido will land near establishments such as the fine dining restaurant The Bump Bar, the American cuisine eatery Lighthouse Cafe, and the local dive Smitty’s bar.
What Now San Francisco reached out to the dining concept’s owner, Hui Long Situ, to learn more about their plans for the upcoming restaurant; however, they could not provide pertinent information (such as what the restaurant will serve) before publication.
While it’s unclear what its offerings will include, drawing from the concept’s name, the eatery will likely offer multi-course meals served omakase-style — a term that roughly translates to “I leave it up to you,” meaning that rather than choosing items from a menu, patrons will enjoy a chef’s choice experience.
Considering additional upcoming restaurant openings in the area — for example, the San Francisco-based concept Cultivar’s third outpost, which found a spot at 690 Bridgeway — Hokkaido Omakase appears to be landing in Sausalito at an opportune time.
