The owners of two ramen restaurants in Baton Rouge are planning a concept for the capital city that is unique to Louisiana: a conveyor belt sushi restaurant. Located at 4914 Government St. in Baton Rouge, Zuma Revolving Sushi Bar will have guests select sushi dishes and Japanese appetizers off a moving conveyor belt that snakes around the restaurant in an all-you-can-eat format. The owners are currently in the process of rezoning the address for a restaurant, and an opening date has been slated for late 2026.
Co-owners Stacy Chen and Shi Jian Zheng also own two ramen restaurants in the area called Daruma Ramen. Chen recently told What Now New Orleans that the inspiration for the restaurant came from other restaurant owners they know.
“We have friends doing this kind of restaurant in Maryland, and we got the idea from them,” Chen said. “People will have two options: all-you-can-eat and regular sushi orders off the menu.”
In addition to sushi and Japanese appetizers, the restaurant will also have a full bar.
“The restaurant will be all-you-can-eat, but the bar will not be all-you-can-drink,” Chen laughed.
