According to recent reporting, a beloved local taco brand will be expanding in coming months.

Austin’s homegrown taco chain Tacodeli reportedly has several new locations in the works, including two in the Austin metro and one in the Houston area. Reportedly, CEO Peter Gaudreau has said that the Austin-based chain could have 40 locations by 2029.

“Both Austin locations are still dirt lots, with one located in Tech Ridge at 12705 Center Lake Drive and the other in Leander at 408 E. San Gabriel Parkway,” the Business Journal states. “Its upcoming Houston-area store will be at 19302 Katy Freeway. The timing of construction and completion have yet to be determined.”

“The growth is allowing us to go further than we thought we would in Austin — the city is expanding,” co-owner and founder Roberto Espinosa said.

The report states that company would like to open in Kyle, Dripping Springs, Georgetown and Round Rock, per Gaudreau. It also will continue growing south toward San Antonio, he added.

He added that future sites would ideally have patios to go with its restaurants and be located at “end caps or be free-standing near grocery stores such as Whole Foods Market and H-E-B, fitness operators, coffee shops and juice stores.”

“We have a very good synergistic relationship with JuiceLand. We’re next door to them in many local shops,” Espinosa said.

And it seems that leading Texas grocer H-E-B is among the retailers that Tacodeli prefers to be near.

“It works well because they look for opportunities to bring people into their grab-and-go settings and their coffee shops and their new layout with barbecue. And we’ve got a pilot going with them, serving our tacos in the morning segment in eight locations,” he said.
