Amy’s Cookie Co. and Bakery, a family-rooted brand known for decorated sugar cookies and small-batch baked goods, is preparing to expand into Sugar Land. The bakery is taking over a 1,236-square-foot space at 15283 Southwest Freeway, Suite B, with construction currently underway. Owners Keenan and Amy Ilse say the location will keep the same format and menu style as their other shops, with a few adjustments in hours for the new market.
The business has already established itself in El Campo and Bay City, with a mobile unit that pops up at events from time to time. The new Sugar Land shop will be open Wednesday through Saturday, slightly different from the Wednesday-to-Friday schedule at their other two storefronts. Customers can expect the same rotating menu of about 17 items, along with staple favorites that have become synonymous with the Amy’s Cookie Co. name.
At the heart of their offerings are recipes that trace back generations. The decorated sugar cookies, based on a great-grandmother’s recipe Amy started baking as a child, remain the brand’s top holiday seller. Another great-grandmother recipe, the chocolate chip cookie, continues to be a staple, alongside their carmelita, which has also become a fan favorite. Everything is made in multiple small batches to ensure quality, with no machines and a fully hands-on approach.
“The communities we are in have supported us and embraced us. We are extremely blessed,” the owners said. While the couple is not opposed to further expansion, they emphasize wanting to make sure their three shops are solid and successful before considering more growth.
If all goes according to plan, Amy’s Cookie Co. and Bakery will open its Sugar Land location in January 2026.
