Back in January, What Now reported on The Breakfast Company’s plans to open its fourth location, in Downtown Sarasota. That location has opened successfully, and as we move into the busier fall season, The Breakfast Company is at work on even more growth.
“The opening in Downtown Sarasota has been very smooth. We’re super happy with the place,” owner Dimitri Syros told What Now on Friday. But now the brand is setting its sights on a new location in Venice, one that will serve as an example for Breakfast Company locations to come.
“It’s a larger location, about 4,000 square feet, so it will be the biggest store. It’s about 130 seats or so, indoor and outdoor. There’s also an eight-seat breakfast bar facing a window into the kitchen.”
The Venice location also features a drive-thru, which is a nod toward things to come, Syros says.
“It’s the prototype in terms of design, where we’re going to standardize our model as we get into franchising next year.”
To open this location, Syros and his team are partnering with Shannon Holder, who served as a general manager and began as the Breakfast Company’s very first employee.
“There’s a lot of continuity; we’ll also have some other folks transferring over there,” Syros said.
That continuity is an important part of the transition into franchising as The Breakfast Company refreshes its menu. It’s working, on one hand, to make its offerings more accessible (and in some cases, more fast-casual-friendly), while, on the other, bringing back a few longtime fan favorites.
“You know, from time to time we run specials, and later on people ask, ‘When are you bring this item back?’ We’re going to put the focus on that. There’s smoked salmon, which everyone loves every time we’ve had it, and the breakfast crunch wrap that we’ve had that people were super excited about. Just a few examples.”
Details about the new menu, which should be released in the coming months, are still under wraps, so we’ll be to looking to hear more.
“Breakfast means different things to different people,” Syros said. “It doesn’t just have to be a big brunch with mimosas. It can also be something quicker, more grab-and-go, value-oriented. We’re trying to serve breakfast in every shape and form.”
The Venice location is working toward an opening in April 2026.
